The ability for an organism to escape a pursuing predator, catch dinner or attract a mate is dependent on many traits of an individual. In many cases trade-offs exists between performance traits. So, what are the optimal strategies in nature?
Motor skill is a necessary component across the animal kingdom & human society, yet little attention is given to this critical aspect of performance. Our lab is improving the testing of motor skills in both humans and animals.

Deception exists through out the animal kingdom and human society, and can enable one to gain access to resources that would otherwise not be available. We study fighting crustaceans to diving soccer players so we can better understand the evolution of deceptive signalling.

Dust & Health of the People of Groote Eylandt
In response to poor early childhood development outcomes in a community living in close proximity to a mining operation, the Anindilyakwa Land Council (ALC) sought independent scientific advice as to whether possible metals in the dust might be affecting motor control and cognitive abilities in the Anindilyakwa people.
